“Courting on the Dancefloor”, excerpted from the Minnesota Tallgrass Prairie Chicken Association (MTPCA) annual meeting, May, 2021:

1) Create maximum attention and intrigue by performing a “dance” that includes stamping your feet, fanning your tail, hooting and gurgling and inflating your throat pouch to create an odd booming call.
2) Play hard to get. Dance from dawn until mid-morning then disappear into the grass until your next performance at dawn the following day.
3) Visit Ground Zero regularly to stay on the competitive edge of moves and elusive behavior.
